Common LG problems we fix

From Linear Compressor failures to drum bearing rumbles — our technicians know every LG appliance line, error code and replacement part, with same-day service across Greater Montreal.

LG fridges with InstaView, Door-in-Door and Craft Ice — we know the Linear Compressor warranty cases, the rE / dH error codes and every quirk of LG Studio and ThinQ smart models.

  • Linear Compressor stopped cooling

LG's Linear Compressor has a 10-year warranty for a reason — many fail at 3 to 5 years. The compressor runs but produces no cold air. Often covered under warranty with proof of purchase.

  • Ice maker won't drop cubes

Stuck ice maker motor, frozen fill tube, or a failed water inlet valve. Craft Ice models also fail when the spherical ice mold heater burns out.

  • InstaView knock-twice panel won't light up

The knock sensor or LED panel lost connection to the door controller. Common after door slams or repeated cleaning with chemical sprays on the glass.

  • rE or dH error code on the display

rE means a freezer sensor or main board fault. dH means the defrost heater failed to thaw the evaporator within its timed cycle. Both need a tech to swap parts.

  • Door-in-Door panel won't seal properly

The inner door gasket warps over time from heat-cycling, letting cold air leak out. The fridge runs constantly and frost builds on the back wall and shelves.

LG front-loaders, top-loaders, TurboWash and AI Direct Drive motors — we replace drum bearings, drain pumps, control boards and the steam generators on TrueSteam models.

  • Drum bearings rumble or grind on spin

Classic LG front-loader fault. The rear drum bearings wear out from years of high-speed spinning, especially after water leaks through the spider arm seal behind the drum.

  • LE or OE error code mid-cycle

LE means a stalled motor or door lock fault — the AI Direct Drive can't turn. OE means the washer can't drain — usually a coin or sock blocking the drain pump impeller.

  • Washer shakes hard on the spin cycle

Worn shock absorbers can't dampen the drum anymore, or the spider arm behind the drum has corroded. Either way, the cabinet bangs the wall every spin.

  • Dryer takes forever to dry clothes

Clogged dryer vent or condenser coil packed with lint on heat-pump models. The TrueSteam line also has a humidity sensor that drifts out of spec over time.

  • tE or D80 code on the dryer display

tE means a thermistor fault — the dryer can't read drum temperature accurately. D80 / D90 / D95 mean the vent is restricted by 80% / 90% / 95% and airflow is choked.

LG QuadWash and TrueSteam dishwashers with the Inverter Direct Drive motor — we handle drain motors, leak sensors, spray arm bearings and steam generators across every generation.

  • OE or AE error code

OE means the dishwasher won't drain — pump motor failed or drain hose clogged. AE means the leak sensor detected water in the base tray and shut the unit down for safety.

  • Dishes come out spotted or filmy

Worn spray arm bearings, a blocked QuadWash satellite arm, or hard water scale on the heating element. The wash water can't get hot enough to dissolve detergent.

  • Steam function stopped working

The steam generator unit at the bottom of the tub has scaled up with hard water deposits, or its heating coil burned out from running dry on a low-water cycle.

  • Dishwasher won't start, lights blinking

Failed door latch microswitch — the control board thinks the door is open. Common on LG models after the latch spring weakens from heavy daily use.

  • Long cycles that never finish

Bad water inlet valve, weak fill pressure, or a failed thermistor. The dishwasher keeps trying to reach a target water temperature it can no longer hit.

LG Studio, EasyClean and ProBake Convection ranges — we fix induction generators, bake elements, control boards and the steam-clean water reservoir on every LG range model.

  • Induction zone won't recognize the pot

The pot detection sensor under the glass has failed, or your cookware isn't magnetic enough. Common error on LG Studio induction cooktops after a sensor wire breaks.

  • Oven heats unevenly across the rack

Failed convection fan motor on ProBake models. Without forced airflow, hot spots form near the bake element and cold spots collect in the back corners.

  • EasyClean cycle leaves residue behind

The steam-clean nozzles or water reservoir have clogged with mineral deposits from hard water. The cycle runs but no steam actually reaches the oven walls.

  • Gas burner clicks but won't light

Cracked spark electrode, dirty burner cap blocking the spark gap, or a worn ignition switch that no longer triggers the spark module reliably.

  • F9 or F1 error code on the oven

F9 means the door lock motor jammed during self-clean. F1 is a control board fault — usually moisture intrusion or a blown voltage regulator chip on the board.
